Secretary Bessent said, The Iranian regime will lose the zero-sum game it is playing. Any damage it inflicts on our allies in the Gulf will be paid for with funds extracted from Iranian accounts. Any tolls paid to the Persian Gulf Strait Authority will be offset by funds extracted from their accounts. Every attack Iran launches will only deepen the economic and financial consequences it faces.

There are reports that Foreign Minister Sayed Araghchi was killed in an airstrike after he made threats. The report is unconfirmed, and others say he is alive. AI says he is alive. There have been no posts on his X account since the 9th. Several other top officials were killed; the names are not available.
Araghchi was also quoted as saying recently, “I spoke to Iran’s Foreign Minister @araghchi about the latest escalation in the Gulf and the state of negotiations with the US. I’ve also been in touch with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Sheik Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The resumed attacks on the Gulf countries and their critical infrastructure are unacceptable. A return to full-scale war would come at a tremendous cost to the entire region. The diplomatic route remains the best path out of this war.
