The stock trading bill died in the Senate.
By a vote of 53-47, the US Senate failed to approve the Stop Insider Trading Act, which the US House of Representatives passed after 13 Democrats defected in the lower chamber to back the Republican bill.
The bill, sponsored in the Senate by Nebraska Republican Pete Ricketts, also includes voter identification requirements that some Democrats branded a ‘poison pill.’ Still, Ricketts urged his colleagues to vote for the legislation, calling it ‘commonsense’ in a post on X Wednesday morning.
They call voter identification a “poison pill.” Do people realize how crazy this is? Wanting Voter ID is a poison pill?
Democrats are officially the party of insider trading and voter fraud.
When people run for Congress and know they can get rich off insider trading, we get the wrong people running for office.
After the House voted, House Speaker Mike Johnson commented on the vote in a post on X, saying, “198 House Democrats OPPOSED the Stop Insider Trading Act, which bans shady stock trading by Members of Congress AND ensures Americans show a valid ID to vote. Today, Senate Democrats BLOCKED it. Never forget: The overwhelming majority of Democrats vote to ALLOW corruption and fraud. Shameful.”
🚨 BREAKING: In a MAJOR mask-off moment, Senate Democrats just REJECTED legislation that would’ve required photo voter ID and banned stock trading for members of Congress, 53-47
100% OF DEMOCRATS VOTED “NAY”
LET THAT SINK IN. Democrats just voted for VOTER FRAUD and INSIDER… pic.twitter.com/6wZFrik7XY
