James Talarico, who is the far-left senatorial candidate in Texas, told Black hosts on The Breakfast Club that the Karmelo Anthony’s case was a tragedy, suggesting Anthony was the tragic victim.
Kamelo Anthony heartlessly murdered Austin Metcalf, stabbing him in the heart over nothing. Anthony was rightly found guilty. The evidence was overwhelming. It is even worse than we knew.
Karmelo Anthony’s ex-girlfriend reported that he was stalking her hours before he stabbed Austin Metcalf — and he had threatening and violent texts on his phone, the prosecutor revealed at Anthony’s appeal hearing Thursday.
The jury never heard about Anthony’s disturbing history, or about Metcalf’s juvenile criminal record because of a “gentleman’s agreement” with the 19-year-old’s defense ahead of his murder trial, Collin County Assistant District Attorney Bill Wirskye revealed.
He told the court that Anthony’s high school girlfriend confided to an assistant principal on April 2, 2025, that Anthony was stalking her after a breakup, and that he was obsessed with fights, guns, and knives, according to local outlets at the hearing.
Anthony has admirers who want him freed. He also has a defender who falsely made it about race. The murder wasn’t about race. That wasn’t an allegation until Karmo’s family and the attorney decided to try to use it as a defense.
Then in comes James Talarico…
In comes James Talarico. He pandered to the Black hosts and their audience, claiming that if there was a Black person on the jury, Anthony might not have been convicted.
Talarico is going low, extremely low even for a politician. How does he think Austin’s family feels?
This Divinity student, Talarico, said he doesn’t have the details of the case, so right there is a good reason for him to shut up, but does he? No, he then says there were no Black people on the jury.
However, he failed to mention that there were minorities on the jury. The jury is whoever gets randomly called, and the defense has as much opportunity to reject jurors as the prosecution.
Karmelo was guilty by a preponderance of the evidence. There were over a dozen witnesses, and at least one Black witness testified against Karmelo. Trials against the J6 in DC were composed almost entirely of minorities. It happens.
Talarico is dishonest and cowardly. He will say anything to win.
The host sounds very biased, but Talarico is shameful.
Hard to imagine anyone being such a pandering coward they’d claim Karmelo Anthony– who murdered a kid in front of dozens of eyewitnesses– only got convicted because there wasn’t a black person on the jury. But here’s low-T Talarico saying just that pic.twitter.com/4DcevwYkFf
