Tensions in the Middle East escalated after Israel carried out a strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs. Iran responded by signaling that negotiations with the United States over a broader peace agreement have lost their value. Iran made Lebanon a factor to make the peace deal nearly impossible.
Israeli forces hit parts of Dahieh in southern Beirut, an area long considered a Hezbollah stronghold. Officials described the operation as a targeted response to recent cross-border activity from Lebanon. Casualties were reported, with local authorities noting deaths and injuries among civilians and others in the vicinity.
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he had a great relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but that Netanyahu must be “more responsible” with respect to Lebanon. Speaking at the G7 summit, Trump said he told Israel he did not like its attack on Beirut and suggested Syria should take care of Hezbollah instead of Israel.
President Trump said today that Iran will face “unbelievable consequences” if it violates the deal’s nuclear provisions. “All hell will rain down” if Tehran develops, purchases, or otherwise acquires a nuclear weapon. Trump says he only agreed to sign after language was added blocking Iran from buying or acquiring a weapon. He declined to specify what actions the U.S. would take, saying only that the consequences would be “the ultimate consequences.” Despite the warning, Trump says he still hopes the agreement leads to a positive relationship between Washington and Tehran.
“The only thing that really matters to me is Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, and it says it loud and clear,” Trump said.
Is that enough? They have a lot of ballistic missiles, and China and Russia supply them with whatever they need.
Iran plans to continue killing its political dissidents.
Iran’s judiciary chief called on Tuesday for faster handling of requests for judicial review under Article 477 at the Supreme Court, a step that could shorten temporary pauses in the enforcement of political and security cases, including death sentences.
Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei also commented on US-Iran talks, saying Iranian negotiators would not retreat from the rights of what he called the resistance axis in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and elsewhere, or from seeking revenge for those killed, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
He said if the enemy broke its commitments in the Tehran-Washington understanding, Iran would continue its “confrontation and jihad” in the field.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi:
The end of the war will not be complete without the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territories they occupied in Lebanon.

Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf wrote: Beloved and tall-statured people of Iran! With your historic resistance and the valor of the armed forces against those who sought the life of this nation and the destruction and surrender of this homeland, Iran took a great step toward final victory. They wanted to, but they couldn’t. We stand firm, and in the end, #Iran_Our will triumph, by the grace of God.
After killing 42,000 of their own people for protesting their viciousness, they claim to be fighting with the grace of God.
