Islamic foot-washing stations are coming to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Fox News reports. The new Wudu stations will be installed in the men’s and women’s restrooms in Terminal D. They provide Muslim travelers with a dedicated place to perform the ritual washing of the face, hands, and feet that must be purified before prayer.
I thought we had separation of church and state, or does that only apply to Christians and Jews?
Officials point to another reason for the change. Travelers washing their feet in standard sinks can leave floors wet and slippery and damage restroom counters.
The stations are privately funded and are expected to be complete by the end of the year. Similar facilities already exist at other major U.S. airports, including Chicago O’Hare. They are taxpayer-funded.
