Texas Children’s Hospital has agreed to pay $10 million in the child mutilation cases they euphemistically call gender-affirming care. The hospital used fraudulent diagnoses and genders to secure funding for gender-affirming care. They now have to end the fraud and establish gender detransitioning care. This isn’t about one hospital. It affects many other cases, and it is the watershed moment to end child mutilations.
Herridge said that Nurse Sivich was a principal witness for the Justice Department and the state of Texas against the hospital. In May, a $10 million settlement was announced. Newly unsealed court records provide more detail about the hospital’s commitment to end sex rejecting procedures and fund a first-of-its-kind clinic for detransitioners. This is Sivich’s first interview since the $10 million settlement with Texas Children’s Hospital.
Catherine Herridge asked Nurse Sivich how the fraud with taxpayer dollars worked.
She said the fraud took place in three ways.
“Number one is the hospital used the incorrect sex on the patient’s medical record. Instead of stating the true biological sex on the patient’s record, the hospital used the preferred gender identity of the patient. That’s the first thing.
“The second thing is they used the patient’s preferred name, and…
“The third way is they misdiagnosed patients intentionally? They misdiagnosed patients who were struggling with their gender identity. They listed, for example, that a 15-year-old girl had a testosterone deficiency, and a boy had an estrogen deficiency. A teenage boy had an estrogen deficiency.
“Now, of course, you have to remember that on the patient’s official record, when a doctor goes in and looks, they’re not seeing that it’s a biological female or a biological male. They’re seeing the preferred gender identity, and they’re seeing a fake name. Now, there’s a false diagnosis that is attached to the patient’s record, and so when the hospital goes and submits this claim for reimbursement to Medicaid, you can imagine how difficult it would be for Medicaid to ascertain that this is actually a fraudulent claim being submitted.”
Herridge asked Vanessa’s lawyer for her reaction to the settlement with Texas Children’s Hospital.
Attorney Marcela Burke responded, “It’s that monumental settlement. It’s a first-of-a-kind for the Department of Justice, and so I’m thrilled by the resolution and very, you know, excited to see how it plays out.
“What does the settlement with Texas Children’s Hospital deliver?” Herridge asked.
Burked said, “So it’s an unprecedented settlement. It’s a watershed settlement. The Department of Justice said in their press release that this will be happening, and it’s a series of cases against hospitals across the country. So what will be happening is not only monetary damages, and in this case, to the tune of $10 million, which is an unprecedented amount in Medicaid fraud cases, but also there will be a clinic set up for detransitioners or children who are getting these procedures to receive healing, and not just for children from Texas Children’s, but anyone across the country who’s received these treatments, fully funded for five years.
“How significant is the establishment of this detransition center?” Herridge asked.
“It’s the first ever across the country or globe, essentially, where a hospital is admitting what they did was harming children, and so we’re going to have a place where you can come back and receive healing. And so this is a first of its kind.”

The Impact
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton described the impact. “This settlement sends an unmistakable message: if you put radical ideology over children’s health, my office will go after you. We will continue to lead the way in stopping the far-left’s radical gender agenda.” Justice
Department Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward said that “The Department of Justice is committed to protecting America’s children. Today’s resolution furthers that commitment and puts providers of so-called ‘gender affirming care’ on notice that this Department will vigorously enforce federal law where children are put at risk.”
