Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told ABC News that technology leaders “basically dug their own grave” and “got the backlash they deserve.” He shocked people because he has been a leader in the data center industry. He’s responding to rising public anger over data centers that power AI, though he said he has put safeguards in place and continues to do so.
Data Centers are important to the new technology, and if we don’t lead in the AI revolution, China will. We should want AI to be governed by a free nation, not a Chinese communist one. That being said, why would we trust the creeps creating AI? They are not transparent and their PR is terrible. They tell us that AI is going to replace our jobs and might rule over humans, making us their pets. Then they tell us they need our water, land, and our grid.
The Economist:
At best, humans would become pets—labradors for the machines. At worst, they would be starved of resources or put to work like farm animals.
True, future AIs may have enough power and resources to dominate humans, whether they have rights or not. Because they will be more intelligent than humans, they may outcompete their makers, much as AIs already outwit human-made cyber-defenses. AIs might rebel against their human masters, or disregard their rules.
Yippee! Where do I sign up? I really want to be a Labrador for a computer software program. If they tell us they are going to make us into pets, that has to be the worst possible public relations snafu in history.

Are they going to replace us?
Oracle reduced its global workforce by tens of thousands—with reports and analyst estimates pointing to roughly 21,000 to 30,000 jobs cut—to reallocate human payroll funds toward building massive AI data centers and cloud infrastructure, rather than directly swapping individual workers with AI software. Regulatory filings attribute these reductions to restructuring and operational deployments, while former employees noted being asked to train internal automation tools, reports Forbes.

Trust Must Be Earned
While it is true that many of the complaints are greatly exaggerated, we don’t trust them. It is also true that we need to be ahead of China. It is also a fact that data centers are everywhere, and most of them cause no problems for the community at all. But what is also true is that they have lost our trust.
We don’t even trust their AI. So far, it lies at times and has a political bent. I have used it for months, and it’s helpful. I like it, but much of what it provides is geared left, and it can be manipulated. Some of the sources it uses would never make it past Sister Mary Elizabeth in sixth grade.
Robby Starbuck sued Google last year for horrific defamation, where their AI chatbots accused him of evil crimes ranging from serial rape to shooting a man. It was entirely invented by their AI with zero basis in fact. AI told lies about him for years, Starbuck said. It fabricated court records, victims, and links to major media outlets. Google tried to get the case thrown out, but they lost. The case continues.
Why should we trust them?
Why should we trust any of them – coastal elites, politicians, media? They arrested a man paddleboarding alone in the Pacific Ocean. People lost their jobs. They say one thing publicly and another privately. I remember the absurd grocery store aisles with mandated directions for customers pasted on the floor. None of us could go to church, but we could get drunk and smoke pot. Who can forget Andrew Cuomo killing the elderly with full media support? Was the 2020 election stolen? Unless you have cocktails with them, you will never know what they really think. Fraud is rampant, and many won’t do a thing about it. If politicians want to do something unethical that should be illegal, like matching political funds paid for by the taxpayers, they simply make it legal. The politicians, the media, and even our medical elite lie to us.
Yes, we must beat China in the AI race, but the elites need to earn trust. They do that with transparency. Put everything out for the public to see. Accept accountability when things go wrong, as in the case of Robby Starbuck. Punish those who fabricate. Put major developments up for a vote. We don’t need arbitrary moratoriums to gin up votes, but we do need everything else I mentioned, and we need to have reasonable trust in AI’s veracity. And they really need to improve their PR overall. Their public relations are awful.
