The radical communist DSA members are now entrenched in 15 states and have a footprint in 40 states. The progressives brought this about. Progressives can claim communists are not progressives, but there is hardly any difference. The fifteen states where they are entrenched are:
New York, California, Michigan, Colorado, Wisconsin, Illinois, Washington, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Oregon, Minnesota, Texas, Massachusetts, Georgia, and Arizona.
And they don’t want prisons or police.
Why Communist DSA Members Don’t Want Police and Prisons
While communists love their gulags for political dissenters, they don’t, as a rule, want prisons or police. They see police as oppressors. If you are Marxist, you see people as either an oppressor or an oppressed. Communists view prisons as temporary tools of the state rather than permanent features of human society.
In Marxist theory, prisons are class-based institutions used by the ruling class to maintain power, meaning they would change during a socialist transition and ultimately disappear in a fully realized communist society.
Prisons are largely seen as means of oppression by the wealthy to control the working class and protect private property, which they see as the source of evil. Capitalist prisons are viewed as instruments of oppression used by the wealthy to control the working class and protect private property.
During a socialist transition to communism, they allow laws, police, and prisons. In the end, they envision a stateless, classless society where the root causes of crime—such as poverty, inequality, and unmet material needs—are eliminated, allowing formal prisons and the state apparatus to “wither away.”
At worst, communists envision nice, comfortable prisons, allegedly like Scandinavia. They constantly use Scandinavia as a guideline, but what they are promoting is actually Cuba or the Soviet Union.
Communists rely on gulags, forced labor, and political imprisonment to enforce their ideology.
You have to be abnormal and ignorant to think this will work out.
