Residents in the nation’s capital are leaning toward voting for City Councilmember Janeese Lewis-George, a Democratic socialist, to serve as its new mayor, according to a recent poll.

The democratic socialist agenda is more extreme than that of the Communist Party USA. Normally, a democrat socialist is not as extreme, but not in the USA.

Lewis-George has served on the city council for six years and is leading former City Council Member at-Large Kenyan McDuffie (D) by double digits, according to the Washington Post-Schar School poll.

Survey results show Lewis-George has 36 percent support among likely voters compared to McDuffie, who has 25 percent support.

Both are lawyers by trade, native Washingtonians, and graduates of Howard University with deep community ties.

Incumbent Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) chose not to run for re-election after several public scathings from President Trump and has not yet endorsed a candidate in the race to replace her. Muriel is looking a lot better to us than the rest of the field. Democrats keep getting worse, never better.

This will be a confusing ranked-choice election.

Trump Weighs In on the Race

Asked how he’d feel if a socialist-leaning candidate in D.C. won the mayoral race, POTUS said, “I wouldn’t like it,” and suggested the federal government could “take back Washington” if necessary. “We’re not going to lose our businesses.”
