Investigative reporter Katie Daviscourt revealed a potential Somali daycare fraud scam worth more than $1 million. On that same day, Washington State Gov. Bob Ferguson announced $251 million in funding for daycares. Right now, the state can’t account for more than $430 million in taxpayer funds. That’s a lot of money.
Ferguson is funding 42 new childcare sites for underprivileged 3- and 4-year-olds. It’s okay, Gov. Ferguson says it’s “free.” Obviously, he is condoning the thievery since he isn’t eliminating the fraudulent daycares first.
He lacks any sense of his responsibilities to the people who elected him. Unfortunately, people with common sense are outnumbered by the fools. The fools keep electing these criminals. Last I heard, this type of malfeasance is a crime.
Somewhere in his mind, Ferguson might think he is really helping poor minority children, but he lacks all sense. That’s malfeasance.
Even more concerning, in April the Washington State Auditor’s Office flagged $37 million due to missing attendance records. The state confirmed these issues reflect oversight weaknesses, not fraud. They had reviewed $23.7 billion in total federal funds. The Child Care and Development Fund totaled about $370 million.
