Abdul El-Sayed holds a Medical Doctorate (M.D.) from Columbia University and a doctorate (Ph.D.) in public health from the University of Oxford. However, public records confirm he has never held a license to practice medicine. While he has often referred to himself as a “physician” and a “doctor,” he has not completed a medical residency or treated patients independently.
What a surprise. Who would ever guess he is dishonest? Next, we’ll find out he doesn’t love Blue’s Clues or doesn’t normally dance to rock music.
He offers a weaselly response here:
Here’s the next Democrat candidate everyone on the left will pretend they didn’t see coming before calling on him to drop out.
Lying about being a doctor? Is this a thing lately? https://t.co/laO8u0kufH

The spokesperson for his former Democrat primary opponent, Mallory McMorrow, said, “Abdul El-Sayed has made his supposed medical credentials a centerpiece of his campaign, but the truth is he never held a medical license, never did his residency, never passed the boards, and never practiced medicine independently,
“If Michigan voters can’t trust El-Sayed to be honest about something that is so central to his entire rationale for running, how can they trust him to be honest about what he’d do as a United States Senator?”
“The perception in Michigan is that he is, at least at one point in his life, a licensed physician,” said Chris Dewitt, an unaligned Democratic strategist based in Michigan. “That apparently is not the case, and it blows up a big part of his campaign.”
“It’s a weird thing to hang your hat on in terms of a biographical detail if you never actually practiced medicine,” said Adrian Hemond, a Democrat who is CEO of Lansing-based political consulting firm Grassroots Midwest.
