Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, Florida requires K-12 instruction on communism’s economic, political, and human-rights failures, building on laws signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2022 and 2024. The standards, approved in November 2025, use age-appropriate benchmarks developed with educators.
Why isn’t every GOP state doing this?

In the blue state of Connecticut, they are probably crossing the line into religious indoctrination. Connecticut’s new law creates optional materials on Islamic and Arab studies to promote understanding and reduce prejudice, much like resources for Holocaust or African-American studies.
The problem with that is it is not like the Holocaust or African-American studies. If they teach Islamic studies, they need to teach Christian and Jewish studies.
Too many Democrats only want separation of church and state for Christians. Islam is a whole-of-life religion. The religion can’t be separated from the economic, social, cultural and political mandates.
Connecticut will likely break the law.
