Police in Fairford, near a U.S. base, were tipped off at 12:45 this morning as three suspicious vehicles headed toward the RAF base in Fairford. The joint US-British base has been used by the US to bomb Iran.
President Trump said the suspects had been looking to do “big damage” and had been under investigation by British and U.S. authorities.
British counterterrorism detectives leading the investigation said police had received a call about three suspicious vehicles which appeared to be traveling towards RAF Fairford in the west of England in the early hours of Sunday. They were very close to the base.
The investigation is in its early stages. The Brits are working closely with all their partners, and the area has been cordoned off.
Gloucester Police Assistant Chief Constable Richard O’Connor says work to establish the full nature of the incident is ongoing.
