Secretary Marco Rubio said he “never took Pete Hegseth for a cat guy” during a funny break in a recent interview. Rubio handles international crises, but Pete Hegseth’s cat is unimpressed. The cat was brought in by two of the children, Rubio later explained.
The conversation began when he and his wife were discussing his dog opening the door and traipsing over to Pete Hegseth’s house. Rubio then noted that Hegseth’s arrogant cat heads for his door.
“One of Pete’s cats- oftentimes I’ll get home at night, and the cat is just sitting on my porch, looking at me like, ‘What are you doing here?’”
“To be honest with you, it’s a very arrogant cat,” Rubio said.
“He’s on my porch acting like, ‘What are you doing in my house?’ And it’s like, no—your house is two doors down.”
Hegseth’s cat apparently holds its position and stares him down.
“Usually, a cat, you approach it, takes off running,” Rubio continued. “He just sits there, tail going like this, staring at you like, ‘What’s up?’”
