Abdul El-Sayed has quietly embraced the viciously anti-white and antisemitic Nation of Islam during his Senate campaign. He met with two lieutenants of the group’s leader, Louis Farrakhan, who themselves have railed against “the Jews,” the Washington Free Beacon reports.
Benton Harbor mayor Marcus Muhammad, a “student minister” in the Nation of Islam, posted a photo arm-in-arm with diminutive El-Sayed backstage at the Democrat’s election night watch party on August 4.
Troy Muhammad, the leader of the Nation of Islam’s Detroit chapter, posted a photo from a Detroit NAACP event in June 2025, sporting the group’s distinctive bowtie and towering over El-Sayed as they locked into a solidarity handshake.

The two Muhammads with whom El-Sayed fraternized are well known across Michigan for their Nation affiliations and are loyal disciples of Farrakhan who echo his antisemitic rhetoric.
Marcus Muhammad is a mayor in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
In 2020, Celebrities praised him, including Chelsea Handler, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Garner, Michelle Phiefer, Sean Hayes, Lisa Rinna, Busta Rhymes, and Ice Cube. They all retweeted or praised Louis Farrakhan, Minister Farrakhan.
Linda Sarsour, a prominent anti-Israel activist who has long been labeled antisemitic, has faced criticism for lauding Minister Louis Farrakhan, objecting to the Jewish right to return to Israel, and even calling for “jihad” against President Trump in 2017. She later claimed she was calling only for nonviolent dissent.
Jihad is always violent.
She has mentored Zohran Mamdani in New York City and is backing El Sayed.
