On July 16, President Trump gave a primetime speech about election integrity. The president said that China had sought to interfere with the electoral process. The purpose of his speech was to call on Congress to pass the SAVE Act. Fox viewed his comments about China attempting to interfere in the election as false. A day earlier, Ralph Giordano, the senior vice president of programming for the Fox Business Network, sent a text message to Maria Bartiromo’s producers with guidance to forgo coverage of the speech on her upcoming show.
Maria disagreed with that directive.

She wanted to cover the story because Americans deserved to know what the President actually said. They deserved the chance to hear his message and judge it for themselves.
Navarro, Trump’s senior counselor for trade and manufacturing and a longtime adviser to the president, told Puck that Bartiromo texted him a screenshot of the guidance after he had been scheduled to appear on “Mornings With Maria” to discuss voter fraud. It reached the White House.
Navarro told the outlet that Bartiromo sent him the screenshot and indicated that Fox executives did not want her discussing the subject on air. Puck reported that Navarro had been booked on the show to discuss voter fraud before the segment was scrapped.
The White House called Fox News, and the network decided Maria was a problem.
Her executive producer was also let go. After 12½ years, Fox parted ways with Maria.
The network didn’t give the reason for Maria’s departure, but they seemingly didn’t let her say goodbye, and her name was stripped from the shows almost overnight. Fox calls it a “business decision.”
A Major Breach?
Fox News Media announced Thursday that Bartiromo was “no longer with FOX News Media,” effective immediately, ending her more than 12-year run at the company. They did not provide a specific reason for the decision and subsequently told TheWrap that her departure was a “business decision.”
Network executives viewed sharing internal directives outside the company as a major breach. That led to Bartiromo being taken off the air for 22 days. Then came the announcement that FOX News Media had parted ways with her. However, her attorney disputed characterizations of her exit.
She still has a contract to be paid out until 2029. However, she can’t take another job and get back on the air. Her attorney said the claims that she was fired are “absolutely and unequivocally false.” He said they have the “receipts and witnesses.”
“The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,” Freedman said. “Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses, and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise.”
