Pro-criminal Attorney General Letitia James is investigating the officers who shot the insane woman who had just knifed a young mother to death. If only she investigated the criminals with such fervor. In this case, an obviously mentally ill woman who knifed people and murdered one ran at the officers with her two knives aimed at an officer.
In my opinion, there was one way to not shoot her. There was time before she lunged when a strong officer possibly could have come up from behind. An officer did drive up, but instead of trying to tackle her, the girl officer joined the other officers facing her knifer, Pamela Cisneros. In fairness, the girl officer was too small to tackle Ms. Cisneros. One problem is having girl officers.
There is also the fact that police shouldn’t have to diagnose the attacker and let the mentally ill off the hook.
The police don’t want to kill people, and their job in New York City is nightmarish. People in charge often don’t have their backs, and criminals are immediately released back into the streets.

NY Attorney General Letitia James is under fire after her office opened an investigation into the NYPD officers who shot a knife-wielding woman in Times Square. Rather than addressing the mental health crisis that allegedly led to the fatal stabbing of a Bank of America executive.
One of the victims who were stabbed died. Erin Piacenti was a new mother in her first week back from maternity leave. Her attacker, Pamela Cisneros, had a documented history of mental health crises, including a 2019 suicide attempt on subway tracks. Police knew who she was. Fox News claims the system failed to act. It’s not the system; it’s the people we elect and possibly her family who left her to her own devices.
Involuntary commitments
Republican Attorney General candidate Saritha Komatireddy ripped James’ response. She said that investigating the cops who stopped the attack while ignoring the broken mental health pipeline “fails everyone.”
She’s proposing a new Office of Civil Commitment. The office would pair law enforcement with physicians to involuntarily commit dangerous individuals.
James’ office says the investigation is legally required. Under New York’s Executive Law, the Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation must probe any incident where a police officer’s actions may have caused a death.
But Komatireddy argues that hiding behind the mandate dodges the real crisis. “We have people who are known dangerous individuals, people with documented mental illness. The police know exactly who they are, but we have no ability to take care of them.”
Cisneros had been on law enforcement’s radar for years. In March 2019, she attempted suicide by jumping onto E train tracks and was hospitalized. In 2018, police found her in Midtown screaming, acting belligerent and intoxicated.
We need asylums if we aren’t going to imprison the criminally insane.

Under New York’s Mental Hygiene Law, police and doctors can place someone on a psychological hold — but those with severe mental illness are often released back onto the streets within hours.
The crisis goes far beyond New York City. Greene County Sheriff Peter Kusminsky told Fox News Digital his deputies are constantly pulled off patrol for mental health calls — then forced to house people in crisis at hotels because psychiatric beds don’t exist.
“It sometimes takes weeks or months to locate one, and when we do, they are maybe on the other side of the state and at an exorbitant cost,” Kusminsky said.
Komatireddy’s response: “Hotels and motels don’t have doctors, don’t have medicine, don’t have therapy. The state needs to step in.”
Even New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani — who has a history of anti-police rhetoric — thanked the NYPD officers who stopped the attack: “I want to thank the NYPD officers who stepped in and prevented a horrific attack from becoming even worse.”
Komatireddy visited Times Square days after the stabbing and says she saw severely mentally ill people still on the streets. “It’s still happening every day, and we need someone who’s actually going to propose a real solution.”
