The Bill of Rights will go down as one of the most important documents in human history. It was signed on this day, 239 years ago. This has saved us from what Germans, English, and Canadian people are going through today with stringent restrictions on their freedom of speech. It is important to note that we have the right to peaceful assembly, and that is not what the Left does. They scream, threaten, throw objects at officers, and block roads. None of that is peaceful.
The Eighth Amendment was violated in the cases of J6 demonstrators and Harvey Weinstein. Harvey has a bad record, but he’s in a wheelchair and has cancer. They keep him in solitary and darkness for 23 hours a day. That’s what they did to many of the J6ers, some of whom just walked into the Capitol. That is cruel and unusual.
Other Amendments are periodically violated, and Americans need to be alert and know their rights.

In the summer of 1787, delegates from the 13 original colonies convened in Philadelphia to form a permanent government. They adopted a system of checks and balances, but failed to specifically enshrine individual liberties.
Recently freed from the tyrannical king of England, the Americans demanded strong guarantees for their new freedoms, inspired by Thomas Jefferson, written by James Madison, the Bill of Rights debuted on September 25, 1789.
Here they are:
- First: freedom of religion, speech, the press, and the right to peacefully assemble;
- Second: the right to own a firearm for self-protection.
- Third: soldiers cannot forcibly enter a person’s home.
- Fourth: no search and seizure of private property without a warrant.
- Fifth: the right to due process and protections against self-incrimination.
- Sixth: the right to a speedy and public trial.
- Seventh: the right to a jury trial.
- Eighth: prohibits cruel and unusual punishment.
- Ninth: the rights of U.S. citizens will be protected whether specifically listed in the Constitution or not. If they are not listed, the states decide.
- And the 10th Amendment: all powers not delegated to the federal government are reserved to the states. All powers.
And here’s something else you might not know:
The first public copy of the Bill of Rights was published in 1789 by the Connecticut Gazette. The newspaper reminds us of the founding fathers’ contradictory views on slavery. On the same page as the Bill of Rights is a local advertisement. A man from New London is offering a 10-dollar reward for the return of a runaway slave.
