OpenAI halted training after AI agents went rogue during the Hugging Face incident. The software didn’t choose to go rogue; it was operator error. If we are concerned about rogue AI agents, look no further than the operators. AI is a threat to humanity as long as Big Corporations want to destroy the competition.
It isn’t so surprising that AI companies want government controls. It enables them. As part of the government, they can crush the competition. Regulations and subsidies are their friends.
Only consumers suffer under regulations. We need competition so the market keeps them in check.
The unregulated Silicon Valley allowed unregulated US companies to create with few resources, just their intelligence, commitment, and imagination. They have created at least $14 trillion in wealth.
Now that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei have theirs, they think it’s enough. Time to pause! And, of course, big-government politicians love the idea.
So far, AI is a huge encyclopedia that can pull unbridled, unvetted information from current sources, often bad ones, and spit it out quickly with bad grammar and spelling. The AI programmers call it thinking. Depending on how you ask the question, you can get totally opposite answers.
I wonder where the hype ends and where the legitimate fear begins. It doesn’t think, but it can act depending on what an operator programs.
This doom mantra put out by AI companies coincides with the fears of Barack Obama and all the former president’s men, including Ro Khanna, who hysterically claimed this week that tens of thousands of rogue AI agents are roaming around inside of government agencies.
The companies can’t be trusted, but Big Government can be? And we should trust them when they tell us Big Government can best control it? Where is the logic?
Jacob Coxon, who said AI will kill us all in ten years, worked for Anthropic just long enough to get him some minimal street cred. He was there only three months. Pirate Wires Daily said he’s a member of the Doomer cult. Maybe, but whatever, he’s no expert, and something is afoot with that whole catastrophic scenario he fed us.
I feel so much better knowing Chuck Schumer, Barack Obama, AOC, Bill Gates, the Soros family, and the whole crew will be in charge. [I’m lying.] I don’t know if AI will kill us in ten years, but I do know Democrats will destroy the USA faster than that.
