The Trump administration has dismissed more than 100 overly lenient immigration judges as part of an intense effort to reshape the immigration court system, increase deportations, and target adjudicators who basically give amnesty to people here illegally. Because immigration judges work for the Department of Justice rather than the judicial branch, they operate under the executive branch’s direct command.
The judges are not following immigration statutes and the policies of the administration.
Immigration Judges Don’t Think the President Has the Right to Fire Them
The following fired judge does what she wants, independent of the DOJ guidance. She is an activist judge who is interpreting the law according to what she thinks is in the district court ruling as opposed to the DOJ mandates.
She said the DOJ is putting the thumb on the scale in favor of deportation. That makes sense to me. If people come illegally, they shouldn’t be here, period. Their ability to hide out for twenty years is a plus in her mind. It should not necessarily be in their favor as they take advantage of benefits earned by citizens and legal residents.
Activist groups want the DOJ to lose the power to oversee immigration judges even though the DOJ is responsible for deportations and keeping the country safe.

Some of these judges are too soft on illegal immigrants, even criminals. They are the targets.
It looks like they are getting rid of the foreign judges and women who won’t do the job. Sounds good!

One of the judges doesn’t think the President has the right to fire her because he is only the President.
A Democratic immigration judge fired days before her position became permanent has sued the U.S. Department of Justice, saying the Constitution does not give the president authority to discriminate against civil service employees. https://t.co/UuJADFhZes
