The Quiet War: Zelensky Threatens to Attack Belarus

“Signal boosters directing fire at the Ukrainian population are located in two regions bordering Ukraine—Belomoskov and Minsk. If Lukashenko does not remove or deactivate them within a week, we will do it,“ Volodymyr Zelensky

While all eyes are on Iran, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has given Belarus a one-week ultimatum to remove relay equipment on its territory that he says is helping Russia attack Ukraine, warning that Kyiv will otherwise intervene itself to halt the transmissions. He is threatening to attack Belarus, which could widen the war and bring NATO into it.

Is Belarus involved in the war? Ukraine says they are. Belarus is allegedly allowing Russia to use relay systems of communication, and providing air space, and oil, according to Zelensky.

In a social media post on Friday night, Zelenskyy directly urged his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, to “remove that equipment,” or Ukraine would do it.

“I think a week is enough for him to do that. … If he doesn’t do it, we will,” Zelenskyy said.

Kyiv’s pressure on Minsk is not limited to the relay equipment that, according to Zelenskyy, “adjusts fire on our people.”

Ukraine’s leader also criticized Lukashenko over his country’s oil-refining sector, arguing that “today, Belarus is one of the key suppliers for the Russian army.” The evidence isn’t readily available on the Internet, but Zelensky says it is a problem. However, concrete evidence would be helpful. The U.S. must not be drawn further into this war.

The Atlantic Council Backs Zelensky

D Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s chief of staff, Franak Viacorka, an advisor to the Belarusian opposition leader, is tied to the Atlantic Council. He spoke with DW News (German). He said Belarus served as a major staging ground and entry point for Russian forces at the start of the full-scale invasion. Russian troops, tanks, and ballistic missiles crossed the Belarusian border to attack Kyiv and the Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions. That was February 24, 2022.

The Atlantic Council is a D.C. think tank funded by Goldman Sachs, Soros’ Open Society, the Rockefeller Foundation, TIDES, the U.S. State Department, and others. They are the swamp, and they are used as sources of Belarus’s involvement. It would be better to have hard documentation.

According to Zelensky, Russian fighter aircraft, helicopters, and Shahed drones have frequently used Belarusian airspace as a safe corridor to bypass Ukrainian air defenses before striking deep into western and northern Ukraine.

Zelensky fears Belarus will enter the war, and now he’s threatening to bomb them.

Ukrainian intelligence claims to have detected specific equipment. They say it includes signal relay stations—installed within the Gomel and Brest regions of Belarus. They claim Belarus is actively assisting Russian forces in conducting drone and missile strikes.

Every source I could find always uses Zelensky as its source. The problem is that Zelensky wants to draw NATO into the war, and he has a history of embellishment and dishonesty. Some skepticism is warranted until we see documentation.

We mustn’t send our young people 6,000 miles away for this fight, potentially setting off World War III.
