Reportedly, Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Intelligence Committee Chairman Tom Cotton have blocked the Justice Department from obtaining transcripts it needs to prosecute former CIA Director John Brennan for allegedly lying to Congress.
John Solomon reported this at Just the News, and it has been reported previously. However, Senator Cotton is now reportedly moving to help clear the path for the records to be transferred to the Justice Department.
Earlier this year, DOJ sent letters to both the Senate Judiciary and Intelligence Committees demanding fully unredacted transcripts of Brennan’s testimony regarding the Russia collusion investigation.
They also requested records tied to the now-debunked Intelligence Community Assessment and the Steele dossier. The letters set a hard deadline of February 23. That deadline came and went. So did the next two months.
Allegedly, the Senate is bogged down, but things are finally moving.
Brennan was referred for criminal prosecution last October.
