Socialist Elizabeth Warren posted on X that the US Constitution clearly indicates “Muslim civil rights are American civil rights. There is no exception. Hate has no place in America. Islamophobia has no place in America. We will not be silent.”
She posted this two weeks after terrorists slaughtered about 1400 Jewish people, mostly civilians. Warren is mistaken on every level.
Hate and Islamophobia don’t mean we have to agree with or accept Islamist ideology. Not every Muslim follows the extreme ideology, but if they do, it can in no way co-exist with the US Constitution. We don’t accept female genital mutilation (FGM) for one. It’s child abuse.
The religion is also an ideology, mandating observers obey the Koran in every aspect of their lives – including politics – and freedom. It opposes freedom and female equality. The belief system opposes LGBT.
There are exceptions to accepting Muslims, depending on how radical they are.
The United States Constitution is clear: Muslim civil rights are American civil rights. There is no exception.

Islam is in direct conflict with a constitution, let alone one that identifies individual rights over a government or religious institution. The US Constitution recognizes the right of a person to practice religion, or not to practice a religion. Islam, on the other hand, requires absolute loyalty to its religion. Anyone who does not adhere to Islam is recognized as a target for death. That does not “coexist” with freedom.

I think the greatest question comes with regard to Sharia Law and whether an insistence on it over the constitution and local law is a tenet of Islam.
Consider a parallel example.
The Bible clearly teaches capital punishment for murder. Christians who follow the Bible would normally vote to have such included in the law. However, where it is not, Christians don’t go around assassinate criminals who murder and are not put to death under current law. Christians realise that the Bible is not the Law of the land.
RE: Female circumcision: It was a tradition in many pagan patriarchal societies for 2500 years before the rise of Islam. Female circumcision is not supported Koran and the prophet did not speak favourably about it.
