Gov De Santis Invests in Microchips & Semiconductors to Disempower the CCP

On Wednesday, Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis announced he would invest the state’s funds to increase microchip and semiconductor manufacturing in Florida so that the Chinese Communist Party could not “hold our supply chain hostage.”

“We have to start standing up as Floridians and Americans,” DeSantis said at a press conference. “We cannot be captive. Key sectors of our economy should not be captive to some of these foreign nations, particularly outfits like the Communist Party of China. And then even when you have allies like Taiwan, how that could impact, if there was a disruption there, could throw a lot of this through the loop even more than we’ve seen over the past year and a half. So the more we have this capacity within our own country but particularly within our own state here in Florida, the more opportunities there’s going to be for people and the more secure both our economic supply chains will be and our national security.”

  2. I applaud anybody who invests in American R&D and manufacturing. We do not need the rest of the world to produce what we can produce on our own. But consumers need to be educated in a philosophy I heard the Korean have. They rightfully believe every job held by people who export manufactured goods to them is a job that should be held by a Korean instead. But too many Americans just don’t care and too many corporations are just greedy in that their bottom line looks better if they send manufacturing to the 3rd world. It also amazes me how many politicians who are supposed to be working for the good of America and Americans drive imported vehicles. I would also say those politicians who claim to want to bring jobs back home to America need to step up and not buy any imported products, especially big ticket items like vehicles and appliances, that are not made in America. I know I try not to buy any imported manufactured productes that I can buy Made In America instead. I support my own people.

  3. While unpopular, I would expect that DeSantis will also look at Drilling at least 50 miles off the Florida Cost. Florida is heavily invested in Solar Power, but Natural Gas is also needed for a well rounded energy policy and there is a lot of Natural Gas off the Coast of Florida. With increased energy production, Florida would be in the position to greatly expand their ability to manufacture semiconductors and become the Nation’s economic clean energy fueled power house.
