Locally what used to be beautiful rural route farmland is now a ten plus mile long strip mall eyesore with the same roads from the 1970s and you can get to the back of the store before hearing any English being spoken.
There are people in tribal garb speaking Swahili (?) waving around $100 dollar bills like they just found a batch blowing across the parking lot.
This is in deep Red State with really only one major metropolis and we are too close.
My elementary school bud (h/t/-TM) and his fam fought it for years but it turned out exactly like they said with completely unrestrained development.
