Pope Leo XIV, an un-American American Pope, spent Independence Day on Saturday spent the day honoring the tens of thousands of people who have died trying to reach Europe to find freedom and prosperity.
He won’t ever honor the victims of migrants, who are too often thieves, rapists, and killers.
While the United States marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with rallies, parties and fireworks, the U.S.-born pope traveled to the Sicilian island of Lampedusa to pray at a migrant cemetery and celebrate a solemn Mass for the island’s residents and newest arrivals.
Later on Saturday, he got into the July 4 spirit with a visit to the residence of the U.S. ambassador to the Holy See, Brian Burch. The Vatican confirmed that Leo had accepted Burch’s invitation to join in the anniversary celebrations.
Pope Leo wants the US to welcome migrants after tens of thousands came in and are waging war against the citizens. He talked about human dignity. If only he cared about the victims’ dignity. Pope Leo said “in every generation,” immigrants helped to shape the nation’s character.
So, we are to accept radical Islamists, criminals, and communists rehaping our character?
I was able to see a room in the Vatican not open to the public Years ago. It had priceless garments, jewels, and other objects that I’d like to see Somalis take care of.
I cannot remain silent on this.
The Pope’s decision to do this now, right as Europe is witnessing yet another wave of murders of its citizens by migrants (think of Louis, Christian, Henry, and the countless others) cannot be dismissed as a mere public relations blunder.
