Update: Hasbro changed their minds and will not go gender-neutral. Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head will continue on, hopefully for at least another 70 years.
Maybe the whole thing was just a marketing gimmick. Or, perhaps this was a trial balloon that fell flat.
