What’s left of the Columbus monument.

Criminal vandals destroyed a 225-year old monument to Christopher Columbus in Baltimore early Monday morning. It is the oldest still standing in the nation dedicated to the explorer.

It was built by Frenchman Chevalier d’Anemours, or d’Anmour, at Belmont, his 50-acre estate near Harford Road and North Avenue. The vandal left a sign by the destruction, saying  “Racism: Tear it down,” and another sign saying “The future is racial and economic justice.” You can watch it happen and listen to the extreme hard-left America hater on this video:

It’s not different from this next action:

  1. Completely uneducated idiots…Christopher Columbus was the explorer that found the New World, he was not a slave owner or have anything to do with slavery…I wish they would do some fact checking before they damage or destroy monuments to our founding fathers. Those that fail to learn from their history are doomed to repeat it!!!

    • Did you just call Christopher Columbus one of our Founding Fathers? 1492 was a little bit before 1776. If ‘completely uneducated idiots’ are who you wish to educate, the rest of your comment doesn’t exactly lead by example. A 10 second google search will tell you: “Columbus didn’t discover America — he never set foot in North America. During four separate trips that started with the one in 1492, Columbus landed on various Caribbean islands that are now the Bahamas as well as the island later called Hispaniola. He also explored the Central and South American coasts.” And the term ‘New World’ was coined by Amerigo Vespucci (after whom the continents are named) in a 1503 letter to a mapmaker. He was the first to point out that N & S America were different land masses than Asia, specifically India, where Columbus thought he landed. That’s why Columbus called the people he found ‘Indians’ and why the West Indies and East Indies are called that. Oh, and the slavery thing! “Because Columbus captured more Indian slaves than he could transport to Spain in his small ships, he put them to work in mines and plantations which he, his family, and followers created throughout the Caribbean. His marauding band hunted Indians for sport and profit — beating, raping, torturing, killing, and then using the Indian bodies as food for their hunting dogs. Within four years of Columbus’ arrival on Hispaniola, his men had killed or exported one-third of the original Indian population of 300,000. In October, we honor Christopher Columbus, who opened the Atlantic slave trade and launched one of the greatest waves of genocide known in history.” Not a founding father. Didn’t discover New World. Slave owner. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.

      • Quite fake thou, most indians died of illness brought, he didn’t even met most of the continent, third of the original population? that’s bullshit.

Columbus tries to find another route to India and he basically went on a suicide mission(for profit), nearly all marines sent with him were actually criminals pardoned to go with him.

Sport and Profit? I don’t see that happening, his float wasn’t big enough to actually do that, if anything they feared the natives.

Also they themselves fought wars between them, america’s discovery actually helped development of today’s industries, if that hadn’t happened you would not be able to write that comment today with the internet. He is not remembered for being a nice guy or a bad guy, he is remembered for what he did, he discovered Americas for Europe. Let me remind you who actually destroyed art and pieces of history, nazis. Not the ones everyone calls each other today, The National Socialist German Workers’ Party.

      • I think you’ll find the founding fathers arrived in, amongst others, the Mayflower – somewhat earlier than 1776 – oh and they didn’t own slaves either.. Without them and other Europeans there would be no America. As to slavery, non white peoples were just has guilty of buying, selling and owning slaves throughout human history. Muhammad Ali said racist things about white people. Have any monuments to him been destroyed? The biggest problem with those who bleat about racism and slavery is that they only do so in terms of how they want to portray it – usually to fit in with their own political and racial ideology. If they truly cared about racism them they would shout from the rooftops about it no matter who suffered from it or who the perpetrators are. The fact that whites are blamed infinitum for racism just shows that those doing the blaming are only serving their own self interests and agenda. They’re as bad as those they accuse.

  2. Those people do not have 1 millionth of the ability or courage that a man like Columbus had. We’d be living in the stone age still with no rights if they had controlled history.

  3. I’ve been told by a few dozen people in various places, that the belief that MLK espoused, that people should be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character is racist. About one in three people who tell me that are willing to explain why that is. The near-dozen answers I’ve gotten as to why that is were all remarkably consistent.

The doctrine of color blindness, you see, does not excuse bad behavior by adults with dark skin who had bad childhoods in whatever ethnic neighborhood they’re from. Since that bad childhood shaped the resulting adult and that bad childhood was the result of racism, expecting those adults to choose to be decent people is also racism. Oddly enough, when I point out that there are white people with equally bad or even worse childhoods, and ask if they are excused for the same reason, I usually get told that ‘of course’ they don’t. Which is somehow not racist. Somehow.

So, by modern standards of what is racist, MLK was a racist extremist. If being racist justifies pulling down statues, then it’s equally justified to pull down statues or signs commemorating MLK too.

    • good point, ive been saying the same thing ,im not a racist but i know that MLK statues will be next and any other famous black americans will go down if this mess dont stop, only stupid people think this will change anything,if we forget the past then we will repeat it again.

  4. Don’t fix it, encase it in bullet proof glass as a permanent reminder of where the government replacing fathers with welfare, affirmative action and indulging lazy people gets a Nation.

  5. The lunatic who did this probably couldn’t read and wouldn’t have known who Christopher Columbus was even if he could read. The violent alt-left is filled with drop-outs.

  6. Columbus was invader, not discoverer. Does not deserve any more respect than he gave the people already inhabiting North America. I wish people would learn the truth and learn to respect the people that were already here. Atrocities against them have continued at least into the 1970s. Not sure if they have ended or not. Most people just do not know and do not care. Terrorists as bad as any where else in the world now. Very sad.

  7. Whatever you consider Columbus, he is still an integral part of American history. And these little punk piss-ants taking a sledgehammer to destroy a statue dedicated to remember historical events is abhorrent. Besides, these ignorant thugs have probably never seen Africa, so to say they are African-Americans is a disgrace. They should be prosecuted for destruction of a historical monument.

  8. About time! Columbus was one of the worst people in history. His own priest (Las Casas) condemned the behavior of Columbus and his men. Columbus was charged with his mistreatment of natives when he returned to Spain. He gave 10 year old girls to his lieutenants as gifts and slaughtered entire peoples.

It’s funny seeing people comparing this to what ISIS has done with monuments. Is this what you were saying when eastern Europeans and Russians were tearing down statues of Lenin and Stalin? Hyprocrite much?

  9. Both Jack and yyy nailed it. Hispaniola is what we now call Haiti and the Dominican Republic. BUT, I despise the actions of these criminal vandals.
