Last year, Barack Obama administration turned over $1.7 billion to Iran in two separate transactions. The first installment was $400 million in hard cash, flown out on a Revolutionary Guard plane in the dark of night. The transfer amounted to partial payment of a ransom of four Iranian-Americans and, when it was uncovered, the Obama administration said it was Iran’s money and it would be used to improve their economy.
The former president said the removal of sanctions, which included the release of these funds, was a goodwill gesture, not a ransom. He also released 21 or more Iranian spies as a goodwill gesture. Congress is now investigating that activity because it is said to have severely damaged his own counterterrorism unit.
After the transfer, then-secretary of state John Kerry admitted at least some of it would be used for terror.
Iran requested cash because because it’s hard to trace.
According to a Saudi Arabian newspaper report on April 25th, Hezbollah had received $600 million worth of Iranian aid. The Al-Youm newspaper reported that the aid was transferred almost completely in hard cash, and is being used for the terror group’s institutions and salaries paid to its terrorists and their families.
The suggestion is it was the same funds sent to Iran by the Obama administration.
Al-Youm has an English version called Egypt Independent but the article did not appear in the English version and we can’t verify the report. However, in August 2016, Hezbollah’s leader confirmed that most of their budget is supplied by Iran.
The money the U.S. gave to the Iranians had a legal claim on it by the victims of Iranian terrorism.
The U.S. even paid interest with U.S. tax dollars.
Hezbollah is a violent terrorist organization almost entirely funded by Iran, directly or indirectly.
Muslim clerics founded the organization in 1982 to harass and terrorize the Israelis who had entered Lebanon to increase stability in the north. The leaders of the group have been and are followers of the very vile doctrine of Ayatollah Khomeini, and their militants are trained by the much-feared Revolutionary Guards.
Hezbollah has its own economy within Lebanon. Lebanon was once a Christian country but Christians have fled or are fleeing. Hezbollah is one of the reasons for that flight.
