The Medicaid and hospice fraud that remains unaddressed, though Gavin will tell you they are on top of it.
A CBS News investigation has revealed indicators of widespread fraud occurring in California’s hospice care industry, particularly in Los Angeles County.
Three years ago, California’s state auditor sounded the alarm that Los Angeles County had seen a 1,500% increase in hospice companies since 2010 – more than six times the national average relative to its elderly population.
Auditors estimated LA County hospices overbilled Medicare by $105 million in a single year. The report called out notable red flags—key warning signs of fraud:
The state says it proceeded to investigate and revoke the licenses of 280 hospices.

One-third of hospices are in Los Angeles.
We have had an explosion of hospice offices in Los Angeles County, California. Roughly a third of all hospice centers are in LA! When journalists Nick Shirley and Christian Hartsock went separately to investigate, they found the people running them are foreigners, drive luxury cars, and are often out, all at the same time. There is no sign of anything happening in these offices.
These investigations have also taken place in Minnesota. Officials don’t care. Here and there, you find some arrests for hospice company fraudsters, such as on this link. The DOJ and state law enforcement are not getting to the core problem. They play Whack-a-Mole, and they don’t even play that well.
We also have the fraudulent loans. Small Business Administrator Chief Kelly Loeffler has shut down 111,620 fraudulent loans in California, totaling $8.6 billion. The fraud is occurring mostly in Democrat districts, and it is orchestrated mostly by illegal aliens.
Let’s not even mention the incompetence that let the Palisades burn down. And where are the permits to rebuild?
