Democrat congresswoman, Tulsi Gabbard, visited Syria and Lebanon at the end of last year for a week. She spoke directly to the people and what she found over and over was the people wanted one thing from the United States.
They begged her to ask the United States to stop arming these radical rebel groups so they can get back to some normalcy in their lives. There are no peaceful or moderate rebels, the Syrians told the Hawaiian congresswoman.
We have known for a long time that Al-Assad protected minority religions in their homelands. We have also known for as long that the groups we supported were killing Christians, Yazidis, and minority sects of Muslims in the Middle East. Al-Assad is a member of a minority Muslim sect under genocidal assault.
We have not only armed these groups directly, but Clinton and Obama provided funds and arms to Saudi Arabia and Qatar knowing they were supplying ISIS.
Tulsi Gabbard is a Major in the Hawaii Army National Guard unit who volunteered for a 12-month tour in Iraq and knows the effects of war which is her motivating force in this.
She was accused by members of both parties of going to Syria to meet with Assad but that was not the reason she went.
Jake Tapper asked the Iraqi war veteran why toppling Assad was on the top of the prior administration’s list. She said we’ve become the world police but that doesn’t take into account what the repercussions are.

The groups on the ground are radical jihadist groups and they would take Assad’s place. They would make life “a living hell” and turn the country into a caliphate.
She said Donald Trump was very receptive to her message about the devastating problems resulting from our policy of overthrowing Al-Assad. Our enemies have grown stronger because of these policies.
As a veteran, she felt it important to talk with him about ending this counter-productive war. The idea of not arming terrorists, she said, in not partisan.

Barack Obama attempted to fund the Assad opposition and found himself in the middle of the civil war with ISIS filling the vacuum. While arming the opposition and funding them, he funded ISIS. He did it knowing our so-called allies on the ground were killing minorities.
In 2013, US-backed rebels took Ma’aloula and beheaded Christians. It wasn’t the first time this happened and it later became the pattern.
Clinton and Obama gave birth to ISIS. They supported al Qaeda in Iraq in 2012, which morphed into ISIS, and other Islamic extremist groups, as a proxy army to topple Syrian President Bashir al-Assad.
“The Salafist [sic], the Muslim Brotherhood and AQI [al-Qaeda in Iraq] are the major forces driving the insurgency in Syria,” a leaked memo between her State Dept. and the Pentagon stated. “The West, Gulf countries, and Turkey support [this] opposition, while Russia, China and Iran ‘support the [Assad] regime.’”
The former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency and current National Security Advisor, Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, confirmed that leaked memo did indeed support that contention.
“I don’t know that [the Obama administration] turned a blind eye [to ISIS], I think it was a decision; I think it was a willful decision,” he said.
