This first story recently took place in Sweden, but child marriage is a problem in Europe as mass migration alters the face of Europe.

A 14-year-old child bride from Syria arrived in Sweden and became pregnant with her husband, who is also her cousin. He married her when she was 12 years of age.

A Progressive Swedish court approved of her marriage, because she appears “mature,.” That wasn’t the only reason, they considered the couples’ religion and culture.

If they were head hunters, would the Swedish court accept that?

Social Services took the case to the judicial system because the marriage is outrageous but the judge said it’s  a different culture and it’s their religion.

In addition, the girl, according to court, is precocious for her age and matured early, so the court does not see anything wrong.

Sweden apparently approves of Sharia law, pedophilia and pregnancy in 14-year olds.

Political scientist and journalist Sakine Madon, questions the verdict in an editorial in VLT.

“So if a girl is considered ‘mature’, it is less wrong that she is part of a child marriage? So if the girl has a certain religious and cultural background, are child marriages in order?” she writes, and continues:

“It is difficult to interpret the verdict in another way. The girl is also described as a mature person with free will. Anyone who knows what honor culture is, is well aware of the powerlessness and pressure a minor married girl is exposed to. Why close your eyes to that she is underage?”

Child marriage is a growing problem in Europe.

The Netherlands has a growing problem of child brides.

As many as 20 girls between the ages of 13 and 15 have been given legal permission to join their older partners at Dutch asylum centres, according to regional news channel RTV-Noord. The information was leaked. It certainly wasn’t advertised.

“A 12-year-old girl with a 40-year-old-man – that is not a marriage, that is abuse”, says politician Attje Kuiken, whose Labour party is a partner in the ruling coalition.
“We’re talking about really young children, girls 12, 13 years old. I want to protect these children. The government should take them into foster care and protect them, because before the new law comes into force, they can still be subject to abuse.”

“Alarming increase” in number of child marriages within Syrian refugee communities in Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon, says Save the Children.

Last year, a district court in Germany cited sharia law to validate a Syrian immigrant’s marriage to a 14-year-old girl. An act that would land a native German man in prison for child molestation is being sanctioned by the court as a valid “marriage”, simply because it as recognized as such by Islamic law.

Germany was inundated at one point with 1,000 child brides with 13-year old children married to men more than twice their age.

In June, one court in Bamberg in Bavaria accepted the marriage of a 21-year-old Syrian man to his 14-year-old cousin. Welfare services had initially separated them, making the girl a ward of the court, but the couple then successfully challenged the decision.

The court said the marriage was legal because it had been carried out in accordance with Syrian law.

However, because under German law children under the age of 16 must have a legal guardian, courts have begun making their husbands their guardians.

Child marriage is banned by the U.N.
