Robert Francis Prevost, 69, is originally from Chicago. He is the first American Pope and will take the name Leo XIV. He is conservative on church doctrine but progressive politically and socially.

According to the Vatican, Leo XIV is considered a ‘moderate reformer’ who aligns very much with the Bergoglian agenda. He was a close confidant of Pope Francis and was responsible for selecting Catholic bishops worldwide as head of the Dicastery for Bishops.

Prevost is a firm believer in social justice issues and a supporter of Pope Francis. Most of his time as a priest was as a missionary in Peru.

He is a progressive on some social issues, especially regarding marginalized groups such as the poor and migrants.

Rev. Mark Francis, a friend of Prevost since the 1970s, told Reuters the cardinal was a firm supporter of his predecessor’s papacy, and especially of the late pontiff’s commitment to social justice issues.

“He was always friendly and warm and remained a voice of common sense and practical concerns for the Church’s outreach to the poor,” said Francis, who attended seminary with Prevost and later knew him.

The New York Times reported that in 2012, Leo indicated that pop culture created “sympathy for beliefs and practices that are at odds with the gospel.” In the speech to bishops, he referenced the “homosexual lifestyle” and “alternative families comprised of same-sex partners and their adopted children.”

Reuters said Francis was known for a progressive stance on LGBTQ+ issues. The New York Times reported that in 2012, Leo indicated that pop culture created “sympathy for beliefs and practices that are at odds with the gospel.” In the speech to bishops, he referenced the “homosexual lifestyle” and “alternative families comprised of same-sex partners and their adopted children.”

Prevost is very concerned about Venezuelan migrants.

A Vatican insider said: “He was not one of the obvious candidates, but he knows everybody, he spent 30 years as a missionary, he has languages.

“His time in Peru means he is one of the least ‘American’ of the American cardinals. But he understands America, and he can speak to the country, which is important in the Trump era.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise since Pope Francis stacked the deck. Francis selected 80% of the conclave. Cardinal Prevost was only recently made a Cardinal by Francis.

The attention the selection received was like watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan’s show in 1964.

  1. Let’s hope this pope has the good sense to keep his mouth shut and not to follow in the footsteps of Marxist Francis. Catholics are more than fed up with this crap.

  2. Pope Leo does not want us to enforce our immigration laws. First he must set an example by getting rid of the harsh penalties the Vatican has against intruders and tear down those high walls enclosing “the Holy City.” Lead by example, Your Holiness.

  3. What can be expected after a commie pope stacked the college of Cardinals, and his main stacker is elected the next pope?

  4. All hail the new boss! Same as the old boss! The Catholic Church is cannibalizing itself. Hell is going to be so crowded!

    • I suspect that the cardinals weren’t alone in selecting this globalist who is perfectly aligned to the globalist agenda.

  5. To quote US Secretary of Agriculture Earl Butz, “He no playa the game, he no maka the rules.”

    • Where in the Bible is making comments online with a computer? Where in the Bible does it say to interpret Holy Scripture for yourself? Well, Our Lord made Peter the head of HIS Church in the Bible, and there has been a succession of leaders of HIS Church to modern times. As far as the way he is chosen, your right, these proceedings developed over time. Last time I looked, Zwiingli, Calvin, Luther, Wycliffe, and Joseph Smith are not mentioned in the Bible. How do protest-ants choose their leader or leaders? Is that method in the Bible?

      • Christ NEVER said, “Peter, you are the Pope of my Church.” You infer what you want to believe.

        • Jesus (John 21) said if He wanted John to live until His return it was no concern of Peter. Then the Bible says people twisted it to say John would never die. Mark is right!!! People believe what they want to believe, eve against clear Scripture!

      • According to God’s holy bible, Christ Jesus is the Head of the church (body of believers). In Mathew 16:16; the rock Jesus was referring to is not Peter, but Peter’s statement, “You are the Christ, the son of the living God.” The “rock” is the truthfulness of that statement—the church is built on the rock-solid truth that Jesus is God’s Chosen One and the eternal Son of God. In confessing Jesus as the Christ, Peter, the “rock,” was demonstrating his own stability as he stood on that truth. Yes Peter and the apostles played a foundational role in the building of the church, but the role of primacy is reserved for Christ alone.
Christ Himself is called the “chief cornerstone” (! Peter 2:6-7 and Mathew 21:22). The chief cornerstone of any building was that upon which a building is anchored. Christ declared Himself to be the “Cornerstone, the rock upon which the church was built. Believers are the stones that make up the church. They are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets (not just Peter) and anchored to the Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20}.

        • Another great post and explanation. In the koine Greek it is clear that Peter (Petros – masculine form) is not the ‘rock’ (petra – Greek feminine) but faith (a feminine form in the Greek) is the ‘rock”.

      • God’s holy bible explains clearly about that “any of this.”
Christ brought us a new and better covenant making the old one, including the priesthood obsolete. His one time perfect sacrifice was acceptable to the Father which is exactly why the old covenant, rituals and traditions were done away with. They are obsolete. The Book of Hebrews explains all this very well.

      • The Old Covenant has served its purpose, and it has been replaced by “a better covenant” (Hebrews chapter 7). In fact, the ministry Jesus has received is superior of which he is mediator, the new covenant is established on better promises through Christ, not religion.
        (Hebrews chapter 8).

Under the New Covenant, we are given the opportunity to receive salvation as a free gift (Ephesians Chapter 2). Our responsibility is to exercise faith in Christ, the One who fulfilled the Law on our behalf and brought an end to the Law’s sacrifices through His own sacrificial death.

        • Excellent post!
