Crisis Meetings Over Megyn Kelly’s Interview with Alex Jones

NBC News chairman Andy Lack was overheard telling fellow journalists at Tuesday’s Mirror Awards that the Alex Jones interview will air. There has been a controversy in the media and on social media with many on the left condemning the interview with a man they hate.

NBC itself could be fanning the flames of controversy to drum up interest and viewers. The Sentinel wonders if they are really having “crisis meetings”. However, they have lost some sponsors.

Families of Sandy Hook victims are pressuring NBC to cancel the Megyn Kelly interview with Alex Jones of Infowars to be aired on Father’s Day. Page Six says NBC has been holding crisis meetings all week.

“It’s a s - - t show. No one wants to withstand a whole week of criticism over this. There are a number of people who want to pull the interview,” one source told the NY Post.

Another said NBC needs the controversy to shake up their Sunday night which always comes in third to CBS and ABC. “No one expected sponsors to pull out, but this is why they hired Megyn. They expect to lose and gain viewers and they want the buzz.”

Kelly said about the situation, “I find Alex Jones’ suggestion that Sandy Hook was ‘a hoax’ as personally revolting as every other rational person does. It left me, and many other Americans, asking the very question that prompted this interview: How does Jones, who traffics in these outrageous conspiracy theories, have the respect of the president of the United States and a growing audience of millions?”

Kelly has another motive. The former Fox anchor tweeted that the President has been on Jones’ show and has praised the show. People have to know who he is, she added.

Let’s not forget Obama had advisors who are communists and Truthers.

Alex Jones also wants the interview shelved and says it was selectively edited.

Jones is frequently quoted as saying the Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax. For his part, Jones says he was playing devil’s advocate but that he has said the mass shooting did happen and children died. He said that NBC edited his comments so it looks as if he said no one died.

However, Jones said in 2012, and it’s widely documented, “Sandy Hook is a synthetic, completely fake with actors. I couldn’t believe it at first. I knew they had actors there, clearly, but I thought they killed some real kids.”

Jones also said they put a light under his face to make him look scary. Kelly, he added, constantly grilled him, asking questions implying he said things he never said to make it look like he was a dangerous extremist.

For example, she said he blamed gays for the Pulse nightclub attack. Jones said he only said they were the targets. She then said “you just said that,” in other words, blamed gays.

The Washington Post came out early this morning with a piece about how Jones will prepare his viewers and it essentially says, he will trick them if he comes out looking bad.

The clip was tweeted by Kelly who calls Jones a conservative. He calls himself a Libertarian. Some others say he’s a conspiratorial nut job. He does in fact have millions of supporters.

In this clip, Jones says 9/11 was an insider attack. Perhaps Kelly should interview Van Jones next. The CNN host, former Obama advisor, is a 9/11 Truther. That would be fair.

Next Sunday, I sit down with conservative radio host @RealAlexJones to discuss controversies and conspiracies #SundayNight June 18 on NBC pic.twitter.com/7bVz6Fobf5
