Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was attacked and severely beaten by an assailant with a hammer who broke into their San Francisco home early Friday, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Pelosi, 82, suffered blunt force injuries to his head and body, according to two people who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing probe.

The attack was not random; the assailant specifically targeted the home, the people said. The assailant was in custody.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre released the following statement:

.@POTUS is praying for Paul Pelosi and for Speaker Pelosi’s whole family. This morning he called Speaker Pelosi to express his support after this horrible attack. He is also very glad that a full recovery is expected.

  1. He was beaten with a hammer at 2:30 in the morning in a targeted attack. One can only hope with California’s cashless bail system they give the guy Adam Shiff’s Burbank home address and his hammer back.

    • What is meant by targeted? Is that to say the Pelosis are victims? How many attacks are not targeted? Why repeat meaningless media phrases? I suggest paying attention to the evolving story and the inconsistencies which are appearing.

How about what the police chief said? The police were present during the attack. The assailant was disrobed. Pelosi had the hammer and the assailant took it. The police chief gave details. The attacker made some odd claims. These 2 guys know each other. That home is secured.

  2. I find it strange that a unknown person could break into a millionaire mansion. With their money they should have had the best security system made.and no guards.very strange. Make one wonder.
