War in Ukraine: How do we know what’s true?

by Karen Kataline

How do you know when you know something?

Since that could lead to an esoteric conversation from which we may never return, a better question for today’s world is, “Are you willing not to know?”

On everything from Covid to Trump, we have watched the ‘legacy’ media reach full-scale propaganda.

They will do anything within their considerable power to get you to be against whatever they’re against and to think whatever they want you to think–even to the point of making you believe that doubt, disagreement, or asking questions is dangerous.

The idea that dissent is dangerous, is what’s dangerous.

The essence of a cult and propaganda is an authoritarian or guru telling you that thinking your own thoughts is harmful or worse, will harm others.

Today, we are watching the unthinkable. We are seeing open persecution and the retaliation of dissenters. The tallest nails are being made an example and a warning to others not to oppose their authority.

For good measure, they cheer this persecution claiming that it shows moral superiority. This sets the stage to invite, then incite the public to join in and pile on. This is classic demagoguery and hate-mongering right out of the Marxist playbook, done by the very people who supposedly warned us about intolerance not too long ago.

We have seen this basic form of psychological warfare work again and again, especially on the most gullible.

So why in heaven’s name are people of every political persuasion so easily believing their reportage on the war in Ukraine?  Did the same media suddenly decide to tell the truth about this one issue?

“But what am I to believe?  Where will I get my news?” they lament.

A lack of curiosity is folly in a dangerous world but so is the willingness to believe a packaged narrative about a war a world away so we can feel certain of who the bad guys are.

Right now, there are a lot of bad guys, including those in our own government who have been telegraphing this war for weeks. Among the many questions we ought to be asking is, why? -and whose side are they really on?

  1. It’s not just the MSM that’s full of lies and spins. The Conservative media fabricates nonsense, floats its own dumb narratives too–all the time promoting the presumption the other side’s the only unreliable twit. Best to go non binary.

  2. For the last five years Fox News has been trashing Ukraine. Now Ukraine is the greatest thing since sliced bread? Cut the cable!

  3. I’m always skeptical, but RT reports from the Russian Ambassador to the UN, I believe, that they found a manual on how to use old and fake videos and pictures and post them online. It obviously has been happening, we just don’t know if the manual was found. It it is true, it brings into question anything Ukraine leadership has to say.

According to Citizen Stringer Ukraine is a huge outsource of Logistics with call centers and dispatchers from Ukraine. This could create Logistics issues across the US.

  4. Fine. She’s telling us what we’ve known for years – we can’t trust our own media, so WTF is going on?

  5. According to Israel National News

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday requested that his country be granted immediate full membership in the European Union.

It was the reason Yanukovich was toppled, yet Poroshenko also wouldn’t join the EU.

  6. All too often people think it is “patriotic” to believe and tow the line. A person surely doesn’t want to aligned with evil, or part of it, and assumes others, including Government, are not evil, or doing evil. But if evil does occur, who started it and who knows of it. In the past years we have seen evil from many sides, including media and governments.

As for myself, I would only watch major media for critiquing purposes only. I would classify them as “war profiteers”, as they desire to profit from every calamity. You have to pay for those enormous salaries somehow. For example, air sirens will go off and it’s “News Alert”, as if the bombing has started. There are no videos shown. I have watched streams that include up to 16 city cams with sirens blaring, many times, but nothing is happening.

A person Can find reports of the area. Fox had a news alert that the cities are surrounding. We knew this from reports with contacts in the areas well before. It is being reported the Pentagon contacted the Russian Ministry of Defense to set up a “hot line” between them.

I wouldn’t put much trust in RT but they are worth watching to see and understand the situation from Their perspective. Interesting that, at times, they Will give both sides. They are ‘on the ground’ in some of these areas with live reports. India TV was also on the ground and reporting from the areas.

There is one report that could be an escalation of dire proportions. Turkey is closing the Bosphorus straits. That in itself could be considered an Act of War and a dangerous turn of events. It could cause Putin to issue ultimatums and would mean NATO is directly involved in the conflict.

  7. It was just announced that the photos of the leader in Ukraine has been from earlier photos in the frontline and not from the war and that Poop’n didn’t send his best men or equipment.

So they are asking what is this REALLY about?

  8. I learned along ago that the Dog Fart Media is corrupt to the bone and staffed with Marxist vermin. Trump’s greatest observation is the MSM is the enemy of the people. That summarizes my thinking entirely.

  9. Isn’t the WEF and Soros a cult of minions?
