In a statement from the White House today on the shooting in Lewiston, Maine, where there are 18 confirmed deaths and countless others injured, Joe Biden offered his sympathies and any help he could give.
He blamed Republicans and guns, not the killer. We don’t even know the details yet, but the shooter appears to have serious mental issues.
Getting political by the third paragraph, Joe Biden said:
For countless Americans who have survived gun violence and been traumatized by it, a shooting such as this reopens deep and painful wounds. Far too many Americans have now had a family member killed or injured as a result of gun violence. That is not normal, and we cannot accept it.
While we have made progress on gun safety through the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the two dozen executive actions I’ve taken, and the establishment of the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, it’s simply not enough.
Today, in the wake of yet another tragedy, I urge Republican lawmakers in Congress to fulfill their duty to protect the American people. Work with us to pass a bill banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, to enact universal background checks, to require safe storage of guns, and end immunity from liability for gun manufacturers. This is the very least we owe every American who will now bear the scars — physical and mental — of this latest attack.
It is important to note that, in every tyrannical takeover of a  nation, the would-be dictators made certain that every civilian was disarmed first.
JOE BIDEN’S DESPICABLE WHITE HOUSE STATEMENT
In his statement, he mentioned universal background checks. We already have universal background checks. What Democrats want is a list of everyone who owns guns and what guns they own so they can confiscate them any time they want.
As for safe storage of guns, states like New York have such regulations, and if a New Yorker needed a gun for self-defense, the individual probably wouldn’t be able to get to it in time.
The big one is Democrats want to end partial immunity from liability for gun manufacturers. That would eradicate the gun industry. Democrats want to be able to sue gun manufacturers if someone uses their gun to hurt another person. In other words, it would be like suing Ford because some lunatic drove a Ford vehicle into someone.
One report claims that Robert Card’s family said he has no serious political affiliation, but he did vote for Joe Biden, and Barack Obama.
