Pope Francis Wants the Israel-Terrorist War to Be Proportionate

Pope Francis has condemned the “massacre” of 153 women and children in Gaza, saying the victims were “innocent.”

Following his Angelus prayer on the Feast of All Saints, the pontiff remembered “all the peoples who are suffering because of war,” adding that “war is always a defeat, always!”

War is “ignoble,” he continued, “because it is the triumph of the lie, of falsehood: one seeks the greatest interest for oneself and the greatest damage for the adversary, trampling on human lives, the environment, the infrastructure, everything; and all disguised with lies.”

“The innocent suffer!” he declared. “I think of the 153 women and children massacred in Gaza in recent days.”

On Sunday, Francis picked up on the same theme, citing Article 11 of the Italian Constitution: “Italy rejects war as an instrument of aggression against the freedom of other peoples and as a means for the settlement of international disputes.”

May this principle “be implemented all over the world: may war be banished and issues be addressed through law and negotiations,” he said. “Let weapons be silenced and space be made for dialogue.”

He then went on to pray by name “for tormented Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Myanmar, and South Sudan.”

Breitbart Recalls Pope Francis’s Comments Last Month

Last month, the pope called out Israel for what he described as its “domineering tendency” in Lebanon and Gaza, insisting that its response to attacks has been “disproportionate.”

Asked by a journalist whether he thinks Israel “has perhaps gone too far” in the force used in the targeted assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary-general of Hezbollah

Francis replied that he calls the Catholic parish in Gaza daily, and they “tell me the things that happen, including the cruelties that take place there.”

“The defense must always be proportionate to the attack,” he continued. “When there is something disproportionate, a dominating tendency that goes beyond morality is evident.”

“A country that uses force to do these things – I am talking about any country – to do these things in such a ‘superlative’ way, these are immoral actions,” he said.

How do people have proportionate wars and expect to win? Do they let your people get killed until it all evens out? It is horrible to see children killed, and the war needs to end, but tell that to the terrorists, too. If Donald Trump gets into office, he’ll cut off Iran’s funds so they can’t terrorize the world. He did do that last time, and Biden-Harris reversed it. Blame Biden Harris and the terrorists before blaming Israel.

Hey little p, tell it to HAMAS and the people of Gaza that voted them into power. And what about the many who were killed and kidnapped to be later murdered by HAMAS on Oct 7. Israel was not the aggressor and they have the right to defend their country and their people from the terrorists you obviously support.

I say lets make love not war. Despite what Bill Gates says we need more babies. Just think that instead of a war we had a cultural exchange of wives and husbands. Do you think war would end if your mother in-law was the target? Okay bad example. What if we had a love fest between nations? Let’s say Iran sends Israel 400 virgins/studs and Israel sends Iran 400 virgins/studs? No? Hmm.

Why don’t they just lay down their arms, call it over, and agree to leave each other alone. Honestly grow up and act civilized already. The rest of the world is tired of your Bull$hit.

BTW I still think making love is a whole lot more fun than making war.

I must preface my remarks thatI have many Christian friends who claim to be “Catholics.” I honour them as people of faith.
“Proportionate wars”?
The enemy constantly says they will destroy your people, drive you into the sea, etc. and people ask you to make a limited response? That just encourages the enemy and gives them more time to cause more trouble.
The Romans Catholic ‘Organization’ fell under the control of secularists beforethe end of the ark Ages and they ran it as a business. (Study the histpory and you will find poes that certain, ydid not live a Biblical life style.) So when the ‘Pope” speaks, he is really no different that the CEO of any other business. (Well maybe the organizaion has a higher rate of pedophiles in key positions than the average business.)

Proportionate wars last longer

when both sides are of equal power and use equal military equipment, it is hard for one side to win

But …if one side is more powerful, it wins and the war ends.

When the Japanese were losing the war but were refusing to stop fighting, and tens of thousands of people were dying every day or at least every week

Don’t forget ; WWII caused the death of well over 50 Million people,
that is roughly 10 M a year,
almost a million a month
or roughly 30,000 a day…

of course those deaths were not all in Japan but my point still stands

the longer it lasted the more people were dying

when the USA dropped the nuclear bombed, it put an end to the war with Japan.

ok yes it took a second one, but same difference, within days the war with Japan stopped

had it went on for years MORE people would have died than the number that died from the two nuclear bombs.

I don’t like nuclear bombs, I don t like war, but it is a mathematical fact that had the war with Japan lasted many more months or years, more Japanese and Americans would have died than died because of the two nuclear bombs.

My point being, wars end much quickly when one side is stronger and wins.

when both sides are equal and use ” proportional” force it can last for years and years.

I watch Candace Owens and she said the government had already come to an agreement with Japan before they dropped the bombs, but they did it anyway. I believe she read about all this in the book “Chaos”, I could be wrong about where she got her information. If you have time M-F she’s worth a watch

It is always hard to know the truth with such things, but if that was true, would Japan not have complained about it for decades ?

I never heard anyone say Japan had agreed to surrender but the USA ignored that, would not some Japanese politicians or journalists or authors have made noise about that ?

It is possible. However, the Geniuses in your Military could also not have recognized, that Japan was an Island, and was beaten; therefore, naval sanctions would have produced a formal surrender. There was no need to drop those Bombs on Innocent People. The US did not Target Military Installations. They Targeted Civilians. The Japanese do Complain. Victors Justice does not Care.
