I went to see the movie, Atlas Shrugged, today, reluctantly. I read the book years ago while still quite young and found it to be a big ho hum. Well, what a difference a couple decades makes. The acting, directing and cinematography were well worth viewing. Mostly, the contemporary theme seems a lot less fantastic to me than it did 20 years ago. Ayn Rand was ahead of her time and her work is somewhat reminiscent of “1984.”
The producer tried for many years to get the film made and did believe it was not the type of film liberal Hollywood likes. But now it’s out and it’s quite interesting.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t made much money so it’s questionable whether or not Parts 2 and 3 will be made. The backer will get his money back on DVD’s and rentals but he’s bitter about the vicious reviews.
