Big Brother Can Take Your Citizenship Away If He Decides You’re A Terrorist – S1698 & HR 3166

“No free man shall be seized or imprisoned, or stripped of his rights or possessions, or outlawed or exiled, or deprived of his standing in any other way, nor will we proceed with force against him, or send others to do so, except by the lawful judgement of his equals or by the law of the land.”

~ Magna Carta, Chapter 29

Big Brother can take your citizenship away if he decides you are a terrorist under two pending laws and after he takes your citizenship away, he can throw you in a prison without any constitutional rights to due process.

The Enemy Expatriation Act – H.R. 3166 – has good intent if your name is Big Brother. Brother wants to strip away the citizenship of natural born or naturalized citizens if they consort with enemies of the state or plot to commit acts of terrorism. Sounds good, but who decides this? Big Brother?

This bill has a companion bill in the Senate – S1698. This bill will also take away citizenship if said citizen knowingly supported an act of terrorism or engaged in hostilities against the U.S.

If you trust the government to properly investigate the person whose citizenship is in danger, then don’t give this a second thought.

Personally, I don’t trust our leaders with this kind of power at the present time. I seem to remember Janet Napolitano putting out a booklet listing possible terrorists as Tea Party people, people who read the Federalist Papers, returning Iraq veterans and so on – remember that???

The fact that these laws are robbing us of even more freedoms might bother some – bothers me!

Another problem is that it then puts the person stripped of his/her citizenship under the National Defense Authorization Act, which allows the government to deprive that person of his/her due process rights and legal representation. Read about these bills here in an article by a Constitutional lawyer: Any U.S. citizen can be stripped of citizenship if they are supporting terrorism.

Another big problem is that Congress is considering the SOPA (Stop Internet Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act), either of which could cause strict censorship of the Internet. The House has tabled the SOPA for now, but the Senate is moving ahead with PIPA. Read about them and tomorrow’s rally here: SOPA and PIPA

House Bill –

Senate Bill – scares me that I agree with keith Olbermann on this –
