Human Rights Court Orders France to Pay Off Somali Pirates

This is not from The Daily Current or The Onion. It’s an actual story. France has to pay fines to Somali pirates who kidnapped their citizens and held them for ransom. You won’t believe the reason.

The European Court of Human Rights condemned France for violating the rights of Somali pirates who attacked French ships. They ordered compensation for them over judicial delays.

Nine vicious and unapologetic Somali pirates will get thousands of euros because they were not immediately brought before a French judge, the court ruled.

One will get 9,000 euros and the others up to 7,000 euros.

And get this…the problem was that France kept them in custody for an extra 48 hours.

These are the Europeans Obama seeks to emulate in all matters. This same European court is the one Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton think we should bow to in some legal matters affecting foreigners.

The pirates held French citizens hostage – they certainly violated their rights.

The pirates were captured after the ransoms in the millions of dollars were paid off.

These are some of the same pirates who have plagued the shipping companies.

The European Convention on Human Rights court ruled against France because they kept them in custody for an extra 2 days when they didn’t really need to according to them.

The convention’s Article 5.3 “was not designed to give the authorities the opportunity to intensify their investigations for the purpose of bringing formal charges against the suspects”, a court statement said.

The pirates must be laughing at these fools.

There is a better way to handle pirates in light of this:
