The Earth revolves around the sun, spread the word.

No sooner do we find out that 25% of the American public believe the sun revolves around the earth when a Saudi cleric and scholar says the exact same thing!

According to Time, the National Science Foundation conducted a study of 2200 participants and found that 1 in 4 Americans thought the sun revolved around the earth. Worse yet, only 48% of Americans knew humans evolved from lower species of animals.

But hey, it’s not that bad, in the EU 66% didn’t know about the relationship of sun to earth.

Well, as it turns out, a Saudi Cleric, a member of the Saudi Council of Senior Scholars, Saleh Al-Fawzan, said in January that the sun definitely revolves around the Earth, according to MEMRI.

MEMRI has this excerpt:

TV host: Allah says in a Koranic verse: “And the sun runs towards its stopping point. That is the determination of the All-Powerful, the All-Knowing.” Does the sun revolve around the earth?

Saleh Al-Fawzan: There is no doubt about it. The Koran says: “The sun runs…” Nevertheless, they say that the sun stands in place and the Earth moves. This contradicts the Koran.

[…]

Ignoring the Koran and adopting modern theories is not something a Muslim can do. A Muslim must follow the Koran

So, that’s it, scientists have had it all wrong. The sun revolves around the earth.

It’s like living in the 16th century.
