U.S. journalist Austin Tice was still alive in September 2012 and was being held by radical Islamists, not believed to be ISIS militants.
Mr. Tice went missing August 2012 while covering the civil war in Syria. He is a former Marine Captain who served in Afghanistan and who reported for The Washington Post, McClatchy Newspapers, the AP, CBS and others. As a former Marine, he was in more danger.
He took time off from Georgetown University law school to try his hand at journalism.
After crossing illegally into Syria from Turkey shortly before his birthday, one of his last communications was of him saying he celebrated his birthday with the rebels.
His parents begged the White House for help on February 6th and are going to launch a petition to Barack Obama to do more to bring him home.
There has been no proof of life since September 2012 but reports from time-to-time indicate that he is alive. No ransom has been requested.
The video below shows him being led off blindfolded and at the end he says, “Jesus, Jesus.”
