Eddie Justice was one of the more than 300 people out having a good time on Saturday night at a local club when a lone terrorist entered the club to commit mass murder.
Eddie is an accountant who lives in a condo in Orlando. His mother says he lives large like the Jeffersons.
An Islamic radical in Orlando might have killed Eddie. He is missing but his texts, which his mother Mina shared with the media, personalize the horror of the attack.
Her 30-year old son texted her at 2:06 Sunday morning.
“Mommy I love you,” the first message said.
“In club they shooting.”
She tried to call her son but there was no answer.
She texted, asking if he was OK.
He texted back, that he was “Trapp in bathroom”
She asked what club and he responded.
“Pulse. Downtown. Call police.”
“I’m gonna die,” he texted at 2:08.
She called 9-1-1.
She asked if people were hurt and he texted, “Lots”.
Texts went back and forth in a flurry.
At 2:49 a.m., she told him the police were there and to let her know when he saw them.
“Hurry,” he wrote. “He’s in the bathroom with us.”
She asked, “Is the man in the bathroom wit u?”
At 2:50 a.m.: “He’s a terror.”
Then, a final text from her son a minute later: “Yes.”
Eddie is now missing. Pray for a miracle.
Update: June 13: As some who commented noted, Eddie Justice is among the casualties. So is a young man named Christopher who also texted his mother. Then there are the other 47 innocent people. No mother should lose her 30-year old son, certainly not to a terrorist. I am so sorry Mina. Rest in peace Eddie, Christopher and all the victims.
