What a Harvard Education Gets You These Days: Satanists Performing a Black Mass

Update: The mass was canceled due to pressure. Another group is considering holding the mock mass.

The New York-based Satanic Temple will be staging a black mass on Harvard University’s main campus today.

The black mass is an inversion of the Catholic mass but they claim they aren’t mocking the Church or provoking the devil. The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club is hosting the event.

It’s based on a myth and it’s too ridiculous to even discuss at length.

Satanic Temple spokesperson Lucien Greaves says his group contacted the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club to organize a re-enactment of a black mass based on the imaginings of French writer Joris-Karl Huysman in the novel “La-bas.” Huysman wrote the novel during the French Occult Revival of the 1800s.

It is supposedly cultural but the entire thing is based on a myth.

It will be held at Harvard’s Queen’s Head Pub.

Greaves is an atheist who does not believe in the supernatural.

The Satanic Temple has been actively involved in the church-state debate in the past. Currently, the group is trying to plant a monument to Satan at the Oklahoma Capitol as an alternative to a Ten Commandments monument that has been there since 2012.

The Florida division of the Satanic Temple joined with the anti-Christian Freedom from Religion Foundation to put a Festivus pole in the rotunda in Florida’s Capitol last Christmas. They decorated it with beer cans, but don’t worry, they aren’t trying to mock Christians.

They are just atheists doing their anti-religion, anti-Christian, anti-God thing. Satanists are atheists by their own words and don’t worship the devil. They don’t believe in the devil.

The Catholic Archdiocese in Boston will hold a holy hour at the same time and sharply condemned the Mass.

Harvard said they don’t condone it but the students have the right to assemble.

He’s wearing a strainer on his head – he claims his religion requires it. I’m sure he’s not mocking Christians either.
