More Reliance on Foreign Oil Until We Become Shut-Ins

The North American Prospect Expo (NAPE) in Houston which included energy and related executives called out the President and his press secretary, Jay Carney, today for their unrestrained misrepresentation of the truth. Obama continuously takes credit for the gas & oil production put in place by Bush through his mouthpiece, Jay Carney, as he (Obama) destroys the energy sector and pays off cronies in the “clean” energy sector.

As an aside, there is no such thing as “clean” energy. Electricity is made from coal, solar material derives from contaminated Chinese manufacturing, and so on. Nuclear power, which is the cleanest and which he promised to support, met with no support once he was elected.

For the gas & oil industry, this has been the times that try men’s souls despite Obama’s campaign promises to use all forms of energy production.

…”These have been the most difficult three years from a policy standpoint that I’ve ever seen in my career,” Bruce Vincent, president of Houston oil and natural gas producer Swift Energy, told the Houston Chronicle.

“They’ve done nothing but restrict access and delay permitting,” he added. “The Obama administration, unfortunately, has threatened this industry at every turn.”

Vincent’s statements laid bare Carney’s lies when he was questioned on Wednesday about gas prices soaring above $4 per gallon.

President Obama, said Carney, “put in place policies that will dramatically expand the amount of exploration in the Gulf of Mexico, will expand the amount of exploration in Alaska, will expand the amount of natural gas production here in the U.S.” Carney made the claims without blanching though his nose seemed to be growing.

NAPE attendee and former Shell executive John Hofmeister disagrees with Carney,  “We are on the verge of slipping into an energy abyss.”

We have all heard about the Shell battle for drilling in the Chukchi Sea off Alaska, a right for which Shell has already expended a great deal of money based on prior promises. Obama has fought Shell at every turn.

There are 26.6 billion barrels of recoverable oil and 130 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in the Arctic Ocean’s Outer Continental Shelf but Obama has stopped progress under the guise of protecting the very safe polar bears and by conjuring up fraudulent safety reviews.

Only 2.2% of federal offshore land is currently being leased for production.

Then there are the 10 billion barrels locked up in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, which would require drilling in just 2,000 acres out of 19 million.

The Obama administration recently rescinded 77 oil and gas leases in Utah and stalled oil shale research and development in Utah, Colorado and Wyoming, where the federal government owns most of the world’s oil shale reserves….Read here: Investors.com

Prior to election, Obama promised to step up domestic oil and gas production and now he pretends that he does.
