Will the Middle East and Syrian jihad come to Europe and eventually the US?
Disturbing new evidence shows that there is at least one Europe-wide jihad cell. Since the Brussels bombings, police in the last 24 hours have made several arrests in a series of raids in Belgium and four other countries across Europe.
The terror network is large and stretches across Europe.
Police shot a man at a tram stop who took a woman and child as shields, they uncovered a bomb-making factory in three targeted raids, and have uncovered what is being described as “alarming” evidence of a Europe-wide jihadist cell connected to the attacks in Belgium as well as those in Paris in November.
After the two brothers died as suicide bombers in Brussels, another dozen terror suspects trained in Syria were picked up. Belgium intelligence thought the brothers were only petty criminals and potential terrorists.
They blamed the intelligence failure on the growing number of refugees but they haven’t come to the realization that letting people come back after they train in terror camps is unwise. The US is doing the same thing.
Since the Syrian conflict began five years ago, tens of thousands of Islamist extremists and jihadists have left Europe to join terrorist groups and half of those have returned home to Europe. Foreign jihadists can easily travel from country to country with EU passports. They can also travel to the US.
Belgians, even with their high numbers of terror cells, do not need a visa to travel to the US.
About 800, some say 2,000, British jihadists alone have joined IS and some, perhaps most, returned to the UK without any contact with UK security services UK security services.
King Abdullah of Jordan believes that Turkey wants radical Islamists to prevail in the Middle East and go to Europe, information he confidentially shared with US lawmakers including John McCain and Paul Ryan.
”Abdullah said that Turkish President Tayyip Recep Erdogan “believes in a radical Islamic solution to the problems in the region.” He went on to say that “that terrorists are going to Europe as part of Turkish policy, and Turkey keeps getting a slap on the hand, but they get off the hook.”
The revelation comes just after the announcement of a deal that Turkey struck with the EU earlier this month to aid it in solving its refugee problem in exchange for billions of euros.
King Abdullah’s biggest warning came regarding al-Shabaab, an east African jihadist group with a lower profile than ISIS, Boko Haram and others, but which has begun to “feed into Libya”.
There are more terrorist groups than ever before and there are 44 major organizations in the world focused on imposing their rule on the West. IS has metastasized throughout the Middle East, North Africa and now Europe. Obama’s weak bombing campaign has pushed IS out to other countries.
A new bill to control foreign fighters movement internationally has passed the House but does anyone believe Barack Obama would sign a bill that protects Americans and limits movements of jihadists?
