Question: How can you tell the difference between an attorney lying dead in the road and a coyote lying dead in the road?
Answer: With the coyote, you usually see skid marks.
“Important legal warning“- for those of you who think lawyers are like priests in the confessional, it is not always the case. “Please read the following advisory to ensure that you are not subject to potential criminal prosecution in connection with” trusting a lawyer who breaks confidences.
Okay, I admit that I took the emboldened words from a new campaign email sent out by local congressional candidate and former SEC lawyer, George Demos, who also has the dubious distinction of ratting out a whistleblower. The rest of the verbiage was mine.
Demos sent out a scary email to frighten us all into voting for him. I’m terrified and can’t stop shaking. [Just kidding]
This is how the email begins –
Dear Republican Committee Members,
The Brookhaven Republican Committee and Randy Altschuler for Congress have sent out a communication instructing you to commit potentially illegal conduct. This is an important legal warning. Please read the following advisory to ensure that you are not subject to potential criminal prosecution in connection with Randy Altschuler for Congress’ “NY1 Primary Absentee Ballot Program.”
The “potentially illegal conduct” by the Chairman was getting out the vote for those people who can’t be present on election day such as some seniors and students who need to vote by absentee ballot. It was sent to committee members who well know the rules for absentee balloting and if there are any who don’t, they have the savvy to ask. They don’t need those specifics written out in a casual email. Demos seemed concerned about the specifics being left out.
Demos, a self-proclaimed Conservative, is soon to marry into a wealthy family of Nancy Pelosi supporters. He is engaging in a new type of politics – the politics of suspected clerical errors. I wonder if it’s a felony.
I don’t see the Chairman’s life of crime going anywhere unless getting out the vote publicly is now illegal. Click here to see the overblown email if you are so compelled.
Demos’ email follows recent comments by the Chairman in which he voiced his concerns about Demos’ funding sources, piles of which are coming from California liberals.
You can’t make this stuff up.
What I find more interesting myself is that George Demos ratted out a whistleblower when he was at the SEC and he won’t say why. The Inspector General said Demos acted improperly but he kicked the can.
Georgie, Georgie, Georgie…
Our economy is falling into a financial abyss. We need people in Congress who are going to help us get out of this mess. Demos’ political chicanery appears vindictive and obfuscates the important issues we need to be discussing.
Demos’ campaign website consists of one page on issues – a paragraph for each issue; but there are pages and pages of attacks on his opponent in the Republican Primary, Randy Altschuler. He has not written as much against his opponent in the Democratic Party, Timothy Bishop.
Like I said, you can’t make this stuff up.
