No one in the world backs down to Obama except the US Congress. Will they do it again over the SCOTUS nomination? If they give in on this with the stakes being so high then they are truly hopeless. Obama believes they want to give in and they will.
Naturally, he doesn’t care that Democrat leaders like Chuck Schumer, Joe Biden, and Obama himself have in the past said what Republicans are now saying.
Barack Obama said that past Democrat statements calling for no lame-duck nominations “Have no application here”. How convenient!
Obama has also claimed that if Republicans don’t cooperate, the court system will break down and Republicans “must fulfill their constitutional responsibilities.”
There is no constitutional responsibility to let Obama throw nominees out and then batter the senators for not selecting them.
Race hustler Michael Eric Dyson joined Jake Tapper on The Lead to accuse anyone resisting Obama’s nomination of being racists.
That didn’t take long!
The left will pull out all the stops but it is critical they never let this get to the floor or they will be hammered and they will lose because they are weak.
Barack Obama has called a meeting for Thursday at the White House with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) to discuss the nomination. Harry Reid and socialist Sen. Patrick Leahy have also been invited.
Obama thinks they’re pushovers.
The president said Wednesday that he expects the GOP to relent. They’re not comfortable with their stance, he believes. “They’re pretty sheepish about it,” the president said.
Obama put moderate Republican Brian Sandoval’s name out as a possible nominee. If the GOP falls for that and agrees to consider nominees, Obama will pull a bait-and-switch.
Charles Krauthammer said on Special Report that we need a “complete stonewall.”
“I think it would be a huge mistake if Republicans did anything other than have an absolute stonewall. I don’t have any of the confidence George has in the nimbleness and intelligence of Republicans managing this. The minute they open this up, they are going to get rolled. This is the Scalia seat. This would change the court for a generation. It’s not kind of a neutral seat. I think it’s something that you can’t lose, so you say — our advice is not to nominate.”
