Bob Beckel Doesn’t Know Why Fox Dropped Him

Fox News dropped co-host Bob Beckel and they say it is because he was taking advantage of the station’s generosity. They said they tried to work with him but they believe he held them “hostage” to his personal issues.

“We tried to work with Bob for months, but we couldn’t hold The Five hostage to one man’s personal issues,” Bill Shine, executive vice president of programming, said in a statement. “He took tremendous advantage of our generosity, empathy and goodwill and we simply came to the end of the road with him.”

Juan Williams and Geraldo Rivera and others will rotate in Beckel’s place on the Five which is the number one cable news show in the 5 PM slot.

Beckel has been with the network since 2000 and entered rehab for his addiction to prescription pain medication in April. He became addicted to the medication after suffering from back injuries. He had back surgery several months ago.

He has been off the show since February 16th.

Beckel is a liberal who has gotten himself into trouble at times for cursing, making inappropriate jokes, flipping off co-hosts, insisting on an end to visas for students from Muslim countries, et al.

In 2014, he called a TV star a “slut.”

The panel was discussing a star of The Bachelorette reality show – Andi Dorfman – who had slept with a man then decided not to marry him. Most of the panel was indifferent.

“She’s a slut!” Beckel proclaimed. “I’m not kidding you!”

His co-hosts were disgusted.

“You probably sleep with a different woman every night,” conservative pundit Andrea Tantaros shot back. (Beckel had a problem with at least one prostitute.)

He appeared to be stoned or inebriated on some shows. He would mumble, slur his words and he once fell asleep on the show while it was live. Greg Gutfeld yelled at him to wake up.

He did have the back problems so it’s hard to definitively say what was going on, but he hasn’t been to work for over four months.

I don’t think it’s all that much of a mystery as to why he isn’t coming back.

Beckel responded on Twitter to his contract being cancelled.

Sarah Palin’s millionaire dollar contract was dropped last week.

  1. Sorry about the back problems; pain makes people grumpy. I’ve always enjoyed Bob, though I’ve nearly always disagreed with him.
But I watched the last “bird” last winter, and it was then that he disappeared.

The rest may be the cited reason, and it’s certainly a problem; but no network can live with the finger.
